• Determine which areas and structures in your jurisdiction present a homeland security risk
• Develop community awareness and outreach plans to help businesses assess their own weaknesses

12:30 FUNDING INNOVATIONS: Changes in funding sources for Homeland Security Issues and NIMS implementation
Grants and funding opportunities for law enforcement agencies are changing every day. Federal funds are on the decline, agencies utilize different vehicles to announce their grants, performance measures are being written into grant requirements, and private sector firms are offering equipment and software that can be used by local and state law enforcement. In addition, jurisdictions have to meet new requirements under NIMS in order to qualify for federal assistance. This session will provide you with insight on these changes and give you the knowledge necessary to manage and secure funding for homeland security.
• Determine new sources of funding in the fight to protect our homeland
• Assess the new structure of homeland security support at the federal level
• Explore new programs designed to keep you one step ahead of domestic and international terrorism threats
