The California Government Accountability Council is agressively pursuing management and accountability reforms within the government of the State of California.

Taxpayers' Bill of Rights
With businesses and jobs fleeing the state in record numbers, California’s fiscal and economic crisis demands immediate fundamental change. Instead of addressing the real problem—excessive government spending—state lawmakers are raising taxes, imposing absurd fees, and using accounting gimmicks and illegal bonds that mortgage our children’s future. The only way to solve the current crisis and prevent it from ever occurring again is to take the solution directly to people through a ballot proposition known as the Taxpayers’ Bill of Rights.

Roadmap to Reform
Regardless of the success of the recall election, without real reform we will achieve very little. The Council firmly believes that California is in desperate need of fundamental reform-devoid of partisan bickering-to the way this state functions and is organized. The Roadmap to Reform does just that.

Citizens' Budget
Reason Foundation and The Performance Institute have proposed a fiscal year 2003-2005 budget for the state of California. All methodologies and strategies applied to this budget are guided by the principles of transparency, performance, competition, and accountability to be the most effective in achieving quality reform.

California Quality of Life Index
The Council uses performance measures and benchmarks to analyze and compare the results of key government services at both the state and local levels of government. By examining and comparing performance, the CQLI determines which government agencies are providing "best-in-class" service to citizens to improve the quality of life of every Californian.

Do we really want to make it easier for Sacramento politicians to RAISE OUR TAXES?
