California Association of Nonprofits Town Hall Meeting on the California State Budget

California Government Accountability Council Chairman and Schwarzenegger budget advisor Carl DeMaio will sit on a panel to discuss challenges and opportunities nonprofits might face under the new governor and state budget. The town hall will be in the Mark Hopkins Hotel in San Francisco on Friday, November 14 between 4 and 5:30 p.m. as part of the California Association of Nonprofits (CAN) annual conference. Approximately 50 to 100 nonprofit and foundation representatives from throughout California and from a wide range of organizations will be present.

The town hall is to set answer the following questions:

1) What are the primary causes of the state's fiscal crisis?
2) What policy changes are needed to get out of the crisis?
3) As we deal with those causes and make those changes, how do we maintain and enhance the capacity of nonprofits to meet community needs?
4) How can nonprofits best have an impact on fiscal decision-making by the new administration?

The town hall will be an excellent opportunity to assess the current budget problem and explore with the experts avenues for reform and improvement. Come see how nonprofits can survive in tough times and network with executive directors and other professional staff, board members, grant-makers, fundraisers, program officers, consultants, and students attending the conference.
