WASHINGTON
- The Office of Personnel Management and the Department of Energy
were recognized today by The Performance Institute for "exemplary
performance on the implementation of the President's Management
Agenda."
The
awards were presented by Performance Institute President Carl DeMaio
at the 2004 Government Performance Summit, being hosted this week
at the Wyndham City Center.
"OPM
and Energy have shown remarkable progress in implementing the performance-based
management reforms laid out in the President's Management Agenda,"
DeMaio said. "The hard work of the men and women at both organizations
deserves to be recognized and this summit, amongst an audience of
federal managers, was an ideal place to do it."
Both
organizations received green lights for their progress in all five
PMA areas on the last Management Scorecard, released earlier this
year. They are the only two agencies to achieve at least a yellow
status for their overall implementation in all five PMA areas.
"A
balanced and integrated approach to all five areas is by far the
best way to implement the President's Management Agenda, and DoE
and OPM have done just that," DeMaio said.
The
Performance Institute is a private think tank seeking to improve
government performance through the principles of performance, transparency,
competition, and accountability. The Institute serves as the nation's
leading authority and repository on performance-based management
practices for government. Its mission is to identify, study and
disseminate the leading management innovations pioneered by "best-in-class"
organizations.
