How
do we measure the results of federal environmental and natural resource
programs?
Measuring
program performance has become the centerpiece of a movement to ensure
a close alignment between resources and results. With a climbing budget
deficit, the results of the Office of Management and Budget’s
Program Assessment Rating Tool (PART) are transforming the way programs
are evaluated, managed,
and budgeted.
Using the PART as a starting point, Executive and Legislative officials,
external stakeholders and policy experts will dialogue on how to improve
the performance measures and subsequent evaluations being applied to
federal environmental and natural resource programs.
We invite you to join us and explore how program assessment
can be used, and in turn, how Congressional oversight of the nation’s
environmental programs can be improved.
The Dialogue will feature a discussion between Congressional staff,
agency managers, and environmental stakeholders on how to make the most
relevant program performance information available in the budget and
appropriations process, as well as directly to the American people.
