Dear Transportation and Contracting Professionals, Managing transportation contracts requires specialized knowledge of the rules and regulations unique to the transportation industry. Without the knowledge and mastery of these rules and regulations, it will become increasingly difficult for you to successfully manage your transportation contracts. Poor management of transportation contracts can result in the unsuccessful completion of your projects and ultimately the ineffective management of these contracts will waste millions of dollars. Utilize Innovative Measures in Performance-Based Contracting Implementing performance-based measures into the structure of transportation contracts will allow you the opportunity to better manage these specialized projects. Experience an increase in competition and a higher level of performance and achievement by including incentives as part of performance-based transportation contracts. Also, implementing new innovations in contract monitoring will allow you to accurately measure the success of your agencies contracts. Learn how to implement the best practices and major strategies in performance-based contracting from experts from several different transportation and government agencies and understand the advanced framework for devising and managing performance measures for transportation services. Also learn how to design, implement and provide incentives for performance-based contracts in transportation. To assist you in acquiring the skills necessary to improve contracting for transportation, I would like to formally invite you to the Performance Institute’s 2003 National Summit on Performance-Based Contracting in Transportation, to be convened in Arlington, VA, on May 11-12.
