Arlington, VA – Earlier today the White House Office of Management and Budget named Carl DeMaio, President of the Performance Institute, to the nine-member Service Acquisition Reform Act (SARA) Panel. The SARA Panel is a federal advisory commission that has been tasked with developing recommendations for the Administration and Congress on how to improve acquisition and contracting policies across the federal government.

In response to the appointment, DeMaio commented, “The SARA Panel has a unique opportunity to revolutionize the way the federal government contracts for public services. We must make government a ‘smarter shopper.’ The panel is a great vehicle for updating federal acquisition practices to enhance transparency and accountability for performance. I’m honored to serve the Administration and Congress in ensuring the federal government is getting the best bang for the taxpayer’s dollar.

The first meeting of the Panel will be February 9, 2005 from 9:00am-12noon in the Truman Room of the White House Conference Center. The meeting is open to the public.
