Erica Mendelson is the Director of Public Policy and Communications, leading The Performance Institute's media and public outreach activities in Washington DC and the State of California . Erica is deeply involved in the ongoing San Diego Citizens' Budget Project, conducting research, appearing before the City Council, reaching out to civic groups and citizens, and working with the news media to promote budget reform through the principles of performance, competition, transparency, and accountability.

She also serves as Director of the California Government Accountability Project, leading the Institute's efforts in Sacramento to bring performance-based management reforms to state gov ernmemt.

Prior to joining the Performance Institute Erica worked for the Ohio Senate and the Ohio Department of Education. She received a B.A. in Communications with a minor concentration in Political Science from The Ohio State University.
